URGENT PRESS RELEASE

Violated Constitutional Rights: MCS and EHS Patients Demand Immediate Protection in Accessing Healthcare

Dublin, 17.02.2026 – A health and civil emergency continues to be ignored by institutions: the constitutional rights of people with Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS) and Electrosensitivity (EHS) are violated daily by the simple act of accessing medical care.

These pathologies, recognized by the World Health Organization and supported by a growing body of scientific literature, transform access to any healthcare facility into a potential source of further physical and psychological trauma. MCS and EHS patients act as environmental sentinels – their sensitivity is an alarm bell for a world increasingly saturated with toxic substances and electromagnetic pollutants.

The Violence of Waiting: Physical and Constitutional Torture

Even waiting just thirty minutes in a waiting room means for these patients being exposed to:

  • Perfumes, deodorants, detergents and fabric softeners worn by other patients
  • Electromagnetic fields generated by mobile phones, Wi-Fi networks and electronic devices
  • Toxic materials present in flame retardants of technology, furnishings and ventilation systems

This forced exposure causes immuno-toxic reactions that can compromise up to ten fundamental constitutional parameters: the right to health, freedom of movement, work, self-determination, social participation, and even spiritual rights and rights of conscience.

This is not just discomfort: it is actual physical torture that produces measurable and prolonged organic damage.

The Human and Economic Cost of Institutional Indifference

MCS and EHS patients are forced to bear enormous personal costs for:

  • Biological and preventive therapies not covered by the health service
  • Environmental modifications to their homes to create safe spaces
  • Long and complex detoxification pathways

The work of therapeutic self-management and prevention that these people must undertake can reach up to 23 hours a day for ten years – a commitment equivalent to over 30 years of professional work.

If we calculate this debt in terms of stolen life hours, self-financed care, and avoidable suffering, the bill to society for each single patient far exceeds three million euros. Multiplied by the growing number of sensitive people, we face an incalculable social debt – a debt that can never be repaid with silence and indifference.

The Solution Exists: Clear and Accessible Protocols

For years, precise guidelines have existed for the reception and treatment of these patients, particularly in critical areas such as dentistry and anesthesia. The protocol attached to this communication – available in Italian, German and English – specifies in detail:

  • Which anesthetics are safe (e.g., mepivacaine without adrenaline)
  • Which dental materials to avoid (amalgams, methacrylates, Bisphenol A)
  • Which amalgam removal procedures to follow to avoid intoxication
  • How to organize appointments to guarantee the first appointment of the morning
  • Which devices to turn off (Wi-Fi and mobile phones) and which precautions to adopt in furnishings

These are not optional "suggestions": they are minimum requirements to guarantee the constitutional right to health.

Concrete Demands to Institutions

We demand that the Ministries of Health and Social Affairs, Regional Governments, and all Medical Orders:

  1. Formally adopt these protocols as binding guidelines for all public and private healthcare facilities
  2. Inform all doctors – general practitioners, specialists, dentists, anesthetists – about the existence of these pathologies and the correct procedures to follow
  3. Guarantee absolute priority to these patients in appointment scheduling (first appointment of the morning, dedicated environments)
  4. Officially recognize the role of MCS and EHS patients as environmental sentinels and their contribution to public health
  5. Initiate a process to assess the social debt incurred with these patients, providing forms of compensation and ongoing support

Sensitivity is Strength and Consciousness

We, MCS and EHS patients, are not asking for privileges. We ask to be able to exercise our fundamental rights without being systematically harmed by a healthcare system that should be healing us.

Our sensitivity is strength and consciousness. We are the thermometer of a sick environment. Ignoring us means ignoring the health and environmental emergency that will involve more and more people.

It is time for Government and Society to recognize the accumulated debt and act accordingly.

The protocols exist.
The solutions are known.
Only political will is missing.
